Laptop for Architecture student - Need is for 3D modelling/Rendering/Visualising and Design work

grayfrench

Hello

I am an Architecture student looking to buy a new laptop. I am entering my 4th year of studies.Over and above my studies i do freelance industrial design and rendering, and in my holidays I work at an architecture firm where some pretty complex models are used in revit.

At university i use the Adobe software range, Revit, 3DStudio Max, Rhino, Grasshopper and Vray, and have been messing around with MAYA.

I need a computer that can handle my current work flow, and hopefully see me through to the end of my masters. I do have a desktop at home which I use more computer power demanding work, but I do not want to have to commute back and forth form Uni to do certain jobs. I would like to be able to do most of my work in studio and/or mobile, then use my desktop(which needs an upgrade too) when I am at home.

My budget is around 900 Pounds or 1350 US Dollars...

If any body can provide some input I would be very grateful. I know this thread has come up a lot, I have read lots of them, but feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the choice and hardware criteria to consider.

Thanks for the help

Hmm. Buy a used gaming laptop.

It's easy.

You don't deserve a computer if you don't know how to use the search function.

As long as it's got a shiny cover and some sort of fruit icon you'll fit in with the unique "artsy" crowd.

@Non Sequitur and Null Pointer - If you got nothing constructive to say then keep what you imagine to be mental masturbation to yourself.....

@ Greatescape - What are the screens like on gaming laptops, do a lot of freelance graphic design and the like, ie CI's and event posters, and need a computer that has a calibrated or close enough screen that is print ready.

Thanks
