Taking the ARE before completing IDP

Has anyone started taking the ARE before completing IDP hours? I know some states allow you to start taking exams early, but here in CT you are required to complete IDP first. I would like to get a head start, does anyone have experience taking exams in another state and transferring results? Wasn't sure what the process was. Any advice will be appreciated.

according to NCARB, in California, we can sit for the A.R.E. before IDP completion provided we have a NAAB accredited degree B.arch or M.arch
