Best Book That Details Architecture Styles?

Hamburgerlar

Not an architect myself but I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions on reading material that details the different styles of architecture so I'll know my Art Nouveau from my Art Deco and my modernism from post-modernism. Thanks!

Forgot to mention I used the above book during my undergrad. It's pretty good, but it might be a bit pricey.

Yeah, appears to be around standard text book price. Looks like some heavy duty reading. Mostly looking for a lighter read (being a history major I've got tons of reading already) but I'll throw it in my amazon cart for a rainy day.

Look into Kenneth Frampton, I think he has some history books. I have one called Modern Architecture. It cost about 8 bucks

I offer “A Field Guide to American Houses” by Virginia & Lee McAlester, it is of course about house styles but it all applies…its not heavy reading but a reference guide to all styles…see a style…look it up. There are lots of drawings/pictures/cues coupled with discriptive text and history.
