Anyone have or know where to get a SF 3D model?
google earth, son!
What file format do you need?
for rhino or 3D studio max so 3DM or 3DS, preferably
Skidmore Owings and Merrill does... this model must have leaked somewhere.
Yes, its quite an amazing model. Now, if only we could find the leaky source...
A quick search did not reveal it, but seems to me there was a link to a Rhino model kicking around in the forum about 18 months back.
This is not the SOM model but might be useful to you. It is not scaled.http://prntscr.com/1dnc0
Rhino file ~27 mbhttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/4619977/SAN%20FRANCISCO.zip
this was very helpful, thank you
Just came across this post and tried to follow the link to the Rhino file--seems to be dead. Any chance it's still kicking around out there? Would love an updated link, if possible
bump, does anyone have this?
i have a 3d gis buildings shape. you can export this as vml or other in Max or Rhino and "cap" or "normal" the buildings as sometimes sides will be missing. its a huge file so generally i select the region im working in.
let me know if interested.
Spackle, I am looking for a model of SF/Bay area also.
Can it be uploaded to my dropbox folder? I can set that up.
Hi Spackle, could I get the model from you?
If anyone has the SOM model let me know. -That model looks amazing!
When I was at SOM-SF, I used pieces of it as context to Link into Revit files for projects in SF - I don't have it - wish I did - But as I said earlier, I am building Revit Parametric versions of parts of SF.
Spackle, yes that would do. can you hit me up at << soundscrapers at gmail >> or post a link? thanks!
hey sorry i fell out of touch. i forgot i posted. ill dig it up tonight.
Hey Spackle if you could also send it to me that would be greatly appreciated. My email is pablo.sandoval.001 at gmail
in the meantime, here is a good link to how you will need to execute the conversion from GIS to Max or Rhino.
I would also really like to have it if possible. email@example.com.
dought. this is what i meant to post.
here it is
I think the link is not working? It just takes me to the homepage.
Phantom, is it possible to repost the Rhino file?
Or anyone who has just done the conversion? Could try to return the favor with something!
Spackle thanks a BUNCH for this.
Yeah, this file in rhino is gonna get huge.
Spackle thanks for the model...Am I missing something or does the model not come with terrain?
no terrain. base heights.
Hey Spackle, sorry to bug but i was wondering if you can repost the 3d model of San Francisco please. I really need it for a project I'm working on. Thanks!
Anyone please can reupload the 3d model of san francisco please?
Anyone out there with this model? i really need it please... The links above are expired so I can't downlod it.
Do you still have the San Francisco 3D model, I'm interested.
In exchange, I might have something for you : I have modeled the terrain or the entire SF peninsula based on the GIS contours from the city of San Francisco...
Or anybody else, if you could send me a link to the 3D model, that would be great.
Is this model still available. I need/greatly want it for a thesis project. If you could get it to me (or a very similar mostly complete one) that would be awesome!!!! Please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org :)
PLEASE REPLY IF ANYONE STILL HAS THIS MODEL..
I NEEDED IT BADLY!!!!
let me know if you manage to obtain the file
It would be very much appreciated!!!
yep for sure...
do you have floor plans or any other details related with that???
please mail me
Any one here still has the 3d model of San Francisco? I need it for my study.
If any one does could you please kindly mail me?
Just go to 3dcadbrowser.com, pay the fee, and download what you want.
Your Dropbox link died. Could you send me another link of that file? Thanks.
Does anyone have 3d models of SF, please kindly email me email@example.com. Thanks
If anyone has the SF model, if you could, please email it to me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If anyone has the SF model, if you could, please email it to me at email@example.com.
I'd also like to get a copy of the SF model (quite urgently, in fact :P). Please email it to me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you!
To this day I keep kicking myself for not lifting it when I had the chance before I got laid off from Skidmore - and here I sit rebuilding it in Revit.
Thank you Selahija for the link to guide how to extract 3d models from Google Earth
Actually I used it to extract the 3dmodel of San Francisco for Net Zero Architecture Competition.
Good luck and have a nice day!
Here is a more complete San francisco 3d model; this link should be live longer.
Rhino V4 file ~31mb
OBJ file ~101 mb
Does anyone have any models that show a higher level of detail as well as accuracy along the waterfront from the wharf all the way down to the Ferry Building? Sadly, I think I've probably spent more time looking for a model like the one SOM made than it would have taken me to build the area I need myself.
I think I'll probably just throw in the towel and build it myself for this project and perhaps add in the rest of the city Phantom was so kind to donate to the forum later. That said if a higher quality version of SF ever pops up (or a comprehensive database of other cities/terrains for that matter!) you would be doing me a massive favor by directing me to it.
