On January 18th, 2016, Next City published an article called "Will U.S. Cities Design Their Way Out of the Affordable Housing Crisis?" The article, written by Amanda Kolson Hurley, highlights the efforts of both Andrew Frey and Jason Chandler (Chair of FIU Architecture) in helping to solve the current affordable housing crisis in Miami.

Next City's article mentions the FIU Infill Housing studio once co-taught by Frey and in which students focused on urban adaptable housing typologies for Miami (more information). The article also mentions Professor Chandler's hand in Frey's efforts. Frey recently closed on the purchase of his first lot, where he will build a 9,000-square-foot, three-story, eight-unit apartment complex designed by Chandler.
