Three Aedas’ projects demonstrated design excellence to triumph at the 2013 Cityscape Awards for Emerging Markets. Hotel Indigo Hong Kong Island in Hong Kong, and One AIA Financial Center and Olympia 66 in China topped the Leisure and Tourism Project Awards (Built), Commercial and Mixed Use Project Awards (Built) and Retail Project Awards (Future) categories respectively.
“Once again Aedas showed the capability to deliver world-class design solutions that are tailored to the needs of communities around the world,” said Keith Griffiths, Chairman of Aedas International. “Our global platform for creative excellence in architecture enables us to contribute the best in any market.”
Hotel Indigo Hong Kong Island features a striking golden bronze dragon wrapping around the building, creating a unique addition to the skyline of Hong Kong. The dramatic glass bottomed cantilevered pool on the roof top, shimmering at night, is considered to be a gleaming pearl often associated with the Chinese dragons.
Located in Foshan, China, One AIA Financial Center is LEED Gold certified. Towering 130 metres with a podium that offers training facilities and a multi-purpose hall, this office tower is located in the southwest corner of the project site with an open lake view, ample daylight and abundant greenery.
The design of Olympia 66, a six-storey shopping mall in Dalian, China, is inspired by the Chinese twin carp, a traditional symbol of wealth and abundance. The unique interplay of two swimming carp inspired forms contain a mobius loop circulation flowing through a continuous chain of retail and atrium activities, creating an exciting and diverse lifestyle experience.
Celebrating excellence in real estate development and architecture, the 2013 Cityscape Awards for Emerging Markets offer international architects and leading real estate developers a prestigious platform from which to communicate a shared vision for the future, from culturally integrated city skylines to sustainable urban communities. Winners were announced last night (9 October, 2013) in Dubai.
