Norfolk, VA – August 4, 2016 – Today, the nationally-renowned architectural firm, Hanbury Evans Wright Vlattas + Company, proudly unveiled a new brand to its employees and clients. The firm is now to be known simply as Hanbury, to honor its collective of talented and committed employees. Hanbury’s bold new graphic positioning, logo and color scheme debuts today on its new website.

Launching a new brand identity is very much a reflection of how we have grown as a firm,” Jane Wright, FAIA, Hanbury CEO, commented. "Having achieved a distinctive national / international position, unique among other regionally-scaled design firms, requires that we present a clear and simplified face to the world. We amplify our voice when our brand is as easily recognized as the reputation we have built, and as timeless as the spaces and places we shape. Our new ‘mark’ bridges our rich past with our envisioned future."

Since its founding in 1979, Hanbury Evans Wright Vlattas + Company has become a vital voice in the planning, architecture, and interior design professions throughout the United States and abroad. Based in Norfolk, VA and with offices in Blacksburg, VA, and Raleigh, NC., the firm has left an indelible imprint on the markets it serves, higher education, historic preservation, and cultural arts.

Over the years Hanbury has developed a deep understanding of the challenges facing colleges and universities, which is reflected in its mission to be a global resource to higher education. The firm’s commitment to transformative spaces and sustainable outcomes for the campuses they serve has been recognized by both design and industry award programs for projects including Rice University’s McMurtry and Duncan residential colleges, the James Madison University Forbes Center for the Performing Arts, Tulane University Weatherhead Hall, and Universidad de Monterrey Colegio Residential Master Plan and Design, to name a few. Hanbury’s historic portfolio is a timeline of Virginia’s treasured patrimony, which includes eight National Historic Landmarks and dozens of structures on the National Register of Historic Places including many in the historic cores of the campuses they serve. The firm’s comprehensive portfolio can be viewed at its new website.

“We’re excited to launch a new identity, positioning us for our future while reflecting our rich legacy,” Rob Reis, AIA, Hanbury Design Director, stated. “Simplifying to Hanbury validates the importance we place on a collective spirit that transcends individuals and time. Likewise, our updated logo reflects the strength of our firm and the simplicity, clarity and elegance demonstrated in our work.”
