COLUMBIA, SC – February 28, 2013 – Quackenbush Architects + Planners proudly welcomes Marc W. Warren, AIA, LEED AP BD+C to the firm as project architect.
Warren has nearly 18 years of experience in design and project management in new, renovation, and LEED construction for a variety of commercial and institutional projects. He comes to Quackenbush with a geographically diverse portfolio that features facilities encompassing more than 2 million square feet in South Carolina, North Carolina and Florida.
Most recently, Warren was Principal and project designer at JHS Architects, where he served in several executive positions since 2004, including Vice President and Treasurer. He also served on the firm’s Board of Directors, participated in the company’s marketing decisions, and oversaw the firm’s drawing standards.
Warren led the project design for the $9 million University of South Carolina Rice Athletics Center, a three-story 68,600 square-foot state-of-the-art structure that serves as the gateway to the university’s Athletic Village. Dedicated in October 2012, the project is LEED-certified and contains 26 percent recycled building materials. Other major projects include the 5,500-square-foot renovation of the University of South Carolina Basketball game day locker rooms.
Warren’s design portfolio also features large public and private projects throughout the southeast. These developments include residential and mixed-use projects, corporate office buildings, athletic facilities, and civic and industrial projects.
Warren’s initial work at Quackenbush will focus on the new middle school for District 5 of Lexington-Richland Counties. This exciting new project will continue the firm’s long-standing tradition of providing innovative architectural design and exceptional client service.
A graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo with a Master of Architecture, Warren is licensed in South Carolina and North Carolina, a member of the SC Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, and a LEED Accredited Professional. He is also certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. A past president of AIA Greater Columbia, Warren served six years on the AIA South Carolina Board of Directors. He is currently board chairman for Jeep Rogers YMCA Branch and is a board member for the YMCA of Columbia.
“Marc’s extensive leadership experience with high performance design and sustainability on large, complex projects helps strengthen our team,” said Doug Quackenbush, President of Quackenbush Architects + Planners, “particularly with the major public sector projects we’re working on.
