Imperial College London has appointed Allies and Morrison to produce a masterplan for its White City campus, a new 9.3ha district dedicated to research and innovation in science, engineering, medicine and business.

The practice will create a place for the southern part of the campus located in White City, west London following extensive consultation with key stakeholders to define the requirements for the site. The White City campus, which will be similar in scale to Imperial’s home in South Kensington, will provide new space for multi-disciplinary research by Imperial’s academic community, partner institutions and businesses around the globe.

Our appointment marks the continuation of a longstanding relationship with Imperial College London. We are currently working as architects for the Michael Uren Biomedical Engineering Research Hub, a new facility that will bring engineers, scientists and clinicians together to work on new and affordable medical technologies at the White City campus.

Paul Eaton, partner at Allies and Morrison, said: ‘Imperial’s White City campus is an internationally significant project for the academic and business communities and we’re excited to be given a key role in shaping it. The campus will also play a critical part in the wider regeneration of White City. Our extensive experience of working on other projects in the area will ensure we’re best placed to support Imperial College London as it looks to make the campus an integrated part of the local community’.

The project also builds on the practice’s expertise in higher education and research, which is informed by successful commissions at Britain’s leading global universities including Imperial as well as the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford, King’s College London and University of the Arts, London.
