October 2014--Philadelphia architecture firm JacobsWyper Architects and Northern Children Services (NCS) recently celebrated the opening of Merrick Hall located on the social service agency’s six-acre campus in the city's Roxborough neighborhood. The building, which was the former home of 19th century industrialist J. Vaughn Merrick, was fully restored and adapted on the exterior and interior by JacobsWyper Architects.  Originally built in 1862, the house was last renovated in 1927 by the well-known Philadelphia architect Horace Trumbauer.  The building now provides temporary housing for young mothers and their infants and independent living quarters for four young families.  The $4.4 million restoration project began in early 2012. IKEA was a partner in this project and provided all the interior furnishings for Merrick Hall.
