This California residence was originally designed for a steel artist in 1999. The project was never built however and remains my first professional design exploration. This design explored the material relationships between a concrete plinth and framed "skeleton" and a Cor-10 Steel Skin.
The spatial partitioning is derived from the initial sketches developed with the client as a 3 cubed form consisting of a private zone, a public zone and an interstitial transitional zone.
Status: Unbuilt
Location: Los Angeles, CA, US
