Bowie City Hall

The new Bowie City Hall is an 80,000 s.f. building located on 6.2 acres. The building and site development are being designed for LEED Silver Certification.

The building will house a variety of departments that serve the community: City Manager, Planning and Economic Development, Information Technology, Finance, Personnel, Community Services, Animal Control, and Police and Public Safety.

A new Civic Plaza creates a sense of arrival and a sense of place with a mix of green landscape and earth-toned paving (not asphalt) that warmly greets visitors. The building prominently welcomes visitors into an inviting, light-filled, two-story, glass lobby that serves as a metaphor for the accessibility and transparency of local government.

The facility will include a new Council Chamber, meeting space for the public, and an emergency command center. The City Council Chamber is easily accessible from the public lobby area which can also serve double duty as an area for special community events. The Council has a small and a large conference room available for their use at this level. A non-public elevator and stair will provide quick access for City staff down to the Police level or up to the second floor.

Visitors to the Police Department will be guided directly from the Civic Plaza to a separate, secured entrance on the lower level which will be a state-of-the-art, full-service, 24/7 facility.
