This historic site - laid out by noted landscape architect Frederic Law Olmsted - commemorates Malden’s honored war veterans. As part of a larger memorial expansion by Shadley Associates of Lexington, MA, Tektoniks was retained to reconstruct the original historic stone Arch dedicated to veterans of World War II.

Following years of neglect, vandalism, and weatherization, the memorial had deteriorated significantly, and become an unsafe artifact. After analysis of historic photographs and documentation of the surviving memorial, Tektoniks re-designed the monument to replicate the appearance of the original Arch, but upgraded the trim, coping, and signage materials, and added a reinforced structural core for long-term durability. Following demolition, the original rubble stone was salvaged for the “body” of the new monument, but the original wood cornices and pier capitals were accurately reproduced in cast stone. Historic “roped” mortar joints were faithfully recreated. Bronze name plaques listing the honored veterans were added, as were a decorative cast bronze eagle and medallion. A recessed accent light fixture was added to enhance ambient light levels.

Bell Rock Park was named to the National Register of Historic Places in February, 2001. Re-dedication of the reconstructed World War II took place on June 26, 2010, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Bell Rock Park.
