The residence accomodates joint family of 12 members + support staff. The residence is part renovation / part new while retaining entire foundation intact. As the residence is located on the main road with heavy traffic, dust and noise pollution is major concern while designing.

The brief was to create residence with 7 bedrooms, Family, Living, Dining, Kitchen, & Utility area along with staff quarters. It should be accessible for disabled and elderly people. Maximum use of natural light during the day time without any dust or noise pollution was the governing factor during the design. Client also requested to avoid fabric curtains for the privacy due to excessive dust accumulation.

The design approach was to make minimalist design with use of Insulated glass that provides noise insulation, heat insulation as well as privacy by venetian blinds integrated in between the air gap of IGU.

End result is Minimalist design with energy-efficient skin that breathes, protects against sun - heat, provides view while rooted in architectural context of the city of Ahmedabad.
