ModelWorks Media, Dublin, IE, CAD Technician

As a CAD Technician at Model Works Media I was asked to interpret architect's drawings of commercial and residential projects to draw planes and layers which will be used to build a high-quality finish model at 1:100 scale. The work also involved cutting the drawn elements with a Trotec laser cutter and a CNC mill machine and use the appropriate programs. Bachelor of Architectural Science - 3 years

All work was drawn by hand with an emphasis on design and space quality.
The programs were a mix of residential and institutional projects including a bird watching hut, a housing complex, a community library, a bank and finally a school. The designs had to take into consideration the context, the brief, accessibility, sustainability and passive design strategy as well as materiality and detail construction understanding.
Team work was also a major aspect of our curriculum.
