personally, despite the $1 million dollar extra cost for cantilevering the structure over university ave, i like the changes!

http://archinect.com/blog/article/21452074/snow-day-on-valentines-day
Snow Day on Valentines Day jmh2732007-02-14T23:51:02-05:00>2011-11-24T09:05:52-05:00
Well, apparently we got a Snow Day for the first time in about 10 years due to the ridiculous amount of snow we've been getting. Despite the fact that classes are officially cancelled and people are out "traying", we (arch students) and even the TA's managed to get to studio (some even on skis hahaha) and had working reviews....seems like even the worst weather can't stop us from having a day of studio!

I'm sorry for the lack of updates on this blog...I will try to find some time to post a more architecture-related update! happy valentines day!

http://archinect.com/blog/article/21451575/new-website-launched
New Website Launched jmh2732006-10-14T13:23:46-04:00>2011-11-24T09:05:52-05:00
After much anticipation, Cornell Architecture finally launches its new website. what a relief
http://archinect.com/blog/article/21451413/rem-koolhaas-oma-and-milstein-hall
Rem Koolhaas (OMA) and Milstein Hall jmh2732006-09-22T01:41:18-04:00>2011-11-24T09:05:52-05:00
Rem Koolhaas- "The box is always an isolated thing. But here, we use the box as a connector. You could say it's a postmodern use of the box." He said he had entered the "apparent warfare between blob and box" in contemporary architecture, and that he was "trying to short-circuit that dialectic."

The press, including the New York Times (read article here ) has generated a lot of excitement on Rem Koolhaas' appearance at Cornell University with his presentation of the new Milstein Hall. Hundreds of people at Cornell gathered in front of Bailey Hall on a sunny afternoon in order to see Rem Koolhaas reveal what may be, College of AAP's future studio.

Planning for Milstein Hall has been an extensive one. The College of Architecture Art and Planning (AAP) had always needed new spaces because the outdated Rand Hall and Sibley Hall were not sufficient enough to handle many of the current operations. Planning stages for the project began when a generous donor gave 10 million dollar...
