Christina Chi Zhang named Harry der Boghosian Fellow for 2023-24

Christina Chi Zhang has been named the Harry der Boghosian Fellow for 2023-24 by the Syracuse School of Architecture. Zhang, who is currently completing the final year of her master of architecture degree program at the Yale School of Architecture, will use the fellowship to explore the limits and implications of photography, cartography, drawing, and virtual reality.

During the 2023-24 academic year, Zhang will teach an architecture studio and two professional electives at the Syracuse School of Architecture. The studio and electives will center on her research project “Scales of Healing in Post-Traumatic Landscapes,” exploring the tools of representation used to document, analyze, and represent post-traumatic landscapes at different scales.

Architect Lily Chishan Wong named 2022–23 Harry der Boghosian Fellow

The Harry der Boghosian Fellowship at Syracuse School of Architecture was created in honor of architecture alumnus Harry der Boghosian ’54 during the Spring of 2015. Since then, the program continues to provide emerging designers and academics "with the opportunity to collaborate on projects while developing a unique design research project that both advances their work and career and contributes to the intellectual and design life of the school. Each of the fellowships includes teaching related to the candidate’s area of interest and resources for the development of research and creative work."

For the 2022–23 iteration, Syracuse Architecture has announced Lily Chishan Wong as its newest fellow.

Syracuse University names Leen Katrib the 2021-22 Harry der Boghosian Fellow

Established in 2015, the Harry der Boghosian Fellowship is a one-of-a-kind program initiated by Syracuse University. The program provides emerging faculty members and designers early in their careers the opportunity to spend a year "developing a body of design research based on an area of interest while teaching at the School of Architecture."

Created in memory of Harry der Boghosian '54 by his sister Paula der Boghosian '64, this year's Fellow is architectural designer Leen Katrib. Born in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, Katrib received her Bachelor of Architecture degree with honors from the University of Southern California and earned her M.Arch from Princeton University. She has worked for architectural practices such as Marvel, LTL Architects (Lewis.Tsurumaki.Lewis), McEwen Studio, Peter Marino Architect, and OMA. Syracuse University names Liang Wang as Boghosian Fellow for 2020

Architect and urban designer Liang Wang has been selected by Syracuse University as the 2020-21 Harry der Boghosian Fellow.

The fellowship will take Liang from Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he is a current Doctor of Design candidate at Harvard University, to the Syracuse University School of Architecture, where he will teach one studio and two professional electives. Wang's research focus is situated around the history and theory of urban form, space, and politics within the realm of superblock development and the "architecture and idea of the city in East Asia," according to a press release.

Marble ~ ish: Harry der Boghosian Fellowship 2017 installation

Marble~ish was developed as part of the research from the 2016/17 Harry der Boghosian Fellowship at Syracuse School of Architecture. Conducted by Maya Alam in collaboration with her students “~ISH: Stages Before the Real” is an installation exploring questions concerning the in-between: site specificity/site-less, object/landscape, analog/digital, distinctive/similar and flat/flat-less.

The exhibition represents the culmination of a yearlong design research effort conducted at the School of Architecture. The investigation as a whole deals with 'speculations on social dreaming and experimental preservation in consideration of new media and its effects on our perception'.
