Runner-up proposals by Estudio Lunar for E12 Kosovo and E12 Germany

Here comes our first Europan 12 project of this week -- and it's a double whammy. Rotterdam-based Estudio Lunar scored runner-up for both the Gjilan site in E12 Kosovo (which had no declared winner) and for Regionale 2016 in E12 Germany.

Bombelek - joint runner-up entry for E12 Sweden, Kalmar

Our lovely Europan 12 collection is still growing! "Bombelek" is our first project from the Swedish competition. Designed for the Kalmar region by architects Konrad Basan, Ewa Odyjas, Agnieszka Morga, and Jakub Pudo of BOMP from Poland, the proposal won a shared runner-up prize.

“On the move” by Bluefoamit - 2nd-prize winner for E12 France, Rouen

The latest entry to add to our Europan 12 feature bundle is "On the move" from architectural collective Bluefoamit. The proposal won 2nd prize for the Rouen site in the French edition of E12.

“Inverse Boulevard” - Special Mention entry for Europan 12 Germany, Mannheim

"Inverse Boulevard" by Kawahara Krause Architects is our first entry from Europan 12 Germany for the Mannheim competition site. The Hamburg-based firm received a Special Mention for their proposal, which is based on creating a boulevard that will better connect Mannheim's north and south areas -- and retain their distinct personalities.

“En Pointe” runner-up entry by The Open Workshop + Lorena Del Rio Architects for E12 Austria, Kagran

After submitting "En Pointe" to the Europan 12 Austria competition, The Open Workshop + Lorena Del Rio Architects team placed as a Runner-Up in a three-way tie for the Kagran site (In other words, a "Winner" title wasn't given.) "En Pointe" uses the arcade concept and hybrid, multi-functional spaces to improve Kagran's connectivity and potentially enhance the city at an architectural and urban level.

KATOxVictoria’s “Sprouting City Blocks” - Runner-up for Europan Denmark, Copenhagen

Our Europan 12 featured entry for today is "Sprouting City Blocks" by KATOxVictoria, a Copenhagen-based design office founded in 2011 by architects Hiroshi Kato and Victoria Diemer Bennetzen. Designed for the Vesterbro district in the competition's Copenhagen site, KATOxVictoria's entry won the runner-up award in the latest Europan Denmark.

Joint runner-up entry “COMPLETE SCHIEDAM” connects history and industry in Europan Netherlands

Our next Europan 12 proposal comes from the Netherlands competition for the Schiedam site. As one of two runner-ups, "COMPLETE SCHIEDAM" by Team BASIC CITY A+U / Felixx was designed to connect the historic core and industrial zones of Schiedam, reinventing the city's identity over time.

“OPEN” - winning entry by Ramon Bernabe Simo + Tomas Labanc for Amstetten in Europan 12 Austria

Shanghai-based architects Ramon Bernabe Simo and Tomas Labanc collaborated to create "OPEN", the winning entry for the Amstetten site in the Europan 12 Austria competition. As suggested by its name, their team's proposal is a response to improve connectivity, livability, and "opening up" the city to leave room for potential urban expansion.

Office Jarrik Ouburg + laura alvarez architecture wins second-prize for Ås in Europan Norway

Architects Jarrik Ouburg and Laura Alvarez sent us their "Hortus conclusus" scheme in the recently concluded E12 of the Europan Norway competition. This year's theme focused on the future development of three Oslo-region municipalities projected to grow within the next 25 years: Bærum, Asker, and Ås. Alvarez's and Ouburg's collaborative entry won second prize in the Ås category.

The municipality of Ås, the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, and the architects will discuss the proposal in early 2014 to develop a new and more detailed masterplan of the specific site.

BudCud Takes Honorable Mention for EUROPAN 11 Leeuwarden, NL

Polish practice BudCud has sent us their EUROPAN 11 entry 'Central Lake' for the Kanaalzone site in Leeuwarden, Netherlands which won the team an Honorable Mention. For the EUROPAN Leeuwarden challenge, participants were confronted with questions that asked for a solution on all levels: landscape, urban and architectural.

Winning Entry for EUROPAN 11 Vienna, Austria

The winners for the EUROPAN 11 challenge for Vienna, Austria were announced just last night, and the first prize, by unanimous vote, went to the urban design proposal of Dreiecksplatz (Triangle Square) by an international team comprising Artur Borejszo (PL, Architect), Leena Cho (US, Landscape Architect), Jason Hilgefort (US, Architect & Urbanist), and Andreas Karavanas (GR, Architect & Urbanist).
