IE Master in Architectural Management and Design program bridges the gap between design and business

IE Master in Architectural Management and Design is a 13 month program aimed to bridge the gap that exists between advanced design and the business in the architectural field. The innovative and pioneering content of this master course lies in the combination of IE's well known entrepreneurial spirit and business expertise in conjunction with the design approach of IE School of Architecture.

Its blended format (a combination between online sessions with on-site periods ) allows students to meet their professional obligations while studying.

The Architect's Backstage lecture series will enrich the students experience through direct contact with leaders of top architecture practices, some of whom Pritzker Prize Laureates, will explain key insights to achieve excellence in design.

IE Master in Architectural Design opens its 2013 lecture series program, at the Círculo of Bellas Artes in Madrid, with the Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto.

Sou Fujimoto’s lecture, “Evolving Ideas: Primitive Future”, served as a forum for students to participate in open discussions between scholars, critics, independent professionals, entrepreneurs, curators and cultural activists.

What is the meaning of Architecture? and how does it relate to nature? are the two questions that Sou Fujimoto continues to ponder on.

His projects are a pure reflection of his continuous research of the relationship between:

city and architecture
architecture and landscape
inside and outside
nature and architecture

First up is the Leicester House in Asheville, NC, by Eric Gartner of SPG Architects.

This hilltop residence, located at the edge of a wooded knoll in the rolling foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, has expansive southern and western views. A hint of the views is provided through the glass door, but it is not until entry that the full impact of the hilltop views can be experienced.
