<p>This week has seen appearances from <a href="https://archinect.com/firms/cover/31427715/leddy-maytum-stacy-architects" target="_blank">Bill Leddy</a> and <a href="https://archinect.com/leverarchitecture" target="_blank">LEVER’</a>s Thomas Robinson. The events continue over the weekend with the two-day Reynolds Symposium from <a href="https://calendar.uoregon.edu/event/reynolds-symposium" target="_blank">October 18-19</a>. </p>
<p>Next, professors Nico Larco and Kaarin Knudson will make their first Sustainable Design Urban Handbook presentation on <a href="https://calendar.uoregon.edu/event/nico-larco-and-kaarin-knudson-a-new-approach-for-sustainable-urban-design-introducing-the-sustainable-urban-design-handbook" target="_blank">October 23</a>. Following that are three lectures by Ameyalli Mañon-Ferguson, <a href="https://archinect.com/koningezienberg" target="_blank">Julie Eizenberg</a> and Katherina Körber on October 25, <a href="https://calendar.uoregon.edu/event/julie-eizenberg-material-issues" target="_blank">November 11</a>, and <a href="https://calendar.uoregon.edu/event/katharina-korber-build-interactions" target="_blank">November 13</a>, respectively. <a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/617863/nader-tehrani" target="_blank">Nader Tehrani</a> closes the term with the final lecture on <a href="https://calendar.uoregon.edu/event/nader-tehrani-the-woodpeckers-delight" target="_blank">November 18</a>. </p>

<p>The CAED shares: “The 2024/25 Hearst Lectures is a series of discussions with designers, activists and professionals of the built environment whose work interrogate ecological, societal and material crisis. URGENCIES is a project that was organized to motivate conversations across the five CAED departments. Students and faculty are invited to participate in a conversation about how the built environment is interdependent on structures of power, colonization and extraction, with the hope that we can envision alternative futures together.”</p>

Suero is followed next on May 7 by urban planning expert Jonathan Pacheco Bell of the group Embedded Planning. <p>Out of 641 responses in our online reader poll, the <a href="https://archinect.com/news/article/150377675/get-lectured-unc-charlotte-fall-23-spring-24" target="_blank">David R. Ravin School of Architecture at UNC Charlotte</a> poster design raked in 18.3% of votes and took the top prize, followed by the <a href="https://archinect.com/news/article/150363100/get-lectured-pratt-institute-fall-23" target="_blank">Pratt Institute School of Architecture</a> poster in second place with 15.4%, and <a href="https://archinect.com/news/article/150384023/get-lectured-ucla-fall-23" target="_blank">UCLA's School of Architecture and Urban Design</a> design coming in third with 14% of votes.<br></p>

<p>The events begin on <a href="https://uwm.edu/sarup/aarp-livable-cities-2024/" target="_blank">January 31</a> with a presentation on aging strategies and livable cities from the AARP’s Darrin Wasniewski and Suleyman Bahceci. The focus on cities and transportation continues with a talk from planning expert Barry Gore on <a href="https://uwm.edu/sarup/rethinking-passenger-rail-options-2024/" target="_blank">February 21</a>. Joseph Altshuler follows his appearance on <a href="https://uwm.edu/sarup/joseph-altshuler-2024/" target="_blank">February 23</a>, preceding another on the topic of affordable housing from Matt Wachter and Larry Kilmer II on <a href="https://uwm.edu/sarup/successful-affordable-housing-2024/" target="_blank">March 6</a>.</p>

<img src="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/f6/f62723a5f478a931247c161aef013553.jpg?fit=crop&auto=compress%2Cformat&enlarge=true&w=1200" border="0" /><p>The <a href="https://archinect.com/schools/cover/83925/university-of-south-florida" target="_blank">University of South Florida School of Architecture & Community Design</a> has shared its list of speakers for the Spring semester as part of our <a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/336082/get-lectured" target="_blank">Get Lectured</a> look at the different public programs in store for the new term.</p>
<p>The lectures began with a talk from <a href="https://archinect.com/davidbakerarchitects" target="_blank">David Baker Architects</a> principal Amanda Loper on January 23 and will continue with another lecture from <a href="https://archinect.com/mitarchitecture" target="_blank">MIT</a> and USF faculty member Jan Wampler on February 13. SteinmetzDeMeyer principal Nico Steinmetz follows next with his visit on February 20, preceding a lecture from <a href="https://archinect.com/firms/cover/58060962/office-of-jonathan-tate" target="_blank">Jonathan Tate</a> on March 19. </p>
<p>Lectures continue with <a href="https://archinect.com/harvard" target="_blank">Harvard GSD</a> professor Charles Waldheim’s visit on March 26, followed by an appearance from the <a href="https://archinect.com/schools/cover/343/technische-universiteit-delft-tu-delft" target="_blank">TU Delft</a> Dean of Architecture Dick Van Gameren to close the semester on May 2. </p>
