Following last week’s look at an opening for a Curator of the Loeb Fellowship at Harvard University, we are using this week’s edition of our Job Highlights series to explore an open role on Archinect Jobs for Visiting Faculty Fellowships in Design for Spatial Justice at the University of Oregon, an Archinect Partner School.

The roles, based in Eugene and Portland, call for individuals to teach six courses per year on the topics of environmental, social, and spatial justice in design. “We particularly encourage applications from candidates who are interested in teaching questions in spatial justice at the intersections of gender, race, ethnicity, indigenousness, sexuality, and economic inequality and who are interested in teaching innovation design/research methods with a focus on architectural design studio,” the university says about the fellowship opportunities.

Following last week’s look at an opening for a Physical Design + Fabrication Internship at VolvoxLabs, we are using this week’s edition of our Job Highlights series to explore an open role on Archinect Jobs for a Design Research and Teaching Fellowship at Northeastern University.

The fellowship, which has an application deadline of March 1st, offers an “opportunity to develop a body of design research based on a specific area of interest while contributing to the vibrant intellectual culture of the school.” Applicants for the role must hold a terminal degree (PhD, Master’s, or equivalent) in their proposed area of research by the appointment start date, with a preference for prior studio teaching experience.

Strike at Taubman College and the University of Michigan continues as student workers and staff assistants demand fair wages

A group of 40 striking graduate student instructors and staff assistants at the University of Michigan Taubman College have reportedly had their April wages taken from them in response to their participation in a campus-wide movement that has sought improved working conditions and better pay for workers.

The school’s retaliatory move was met with ire, with the strike now going on for nearly a month. Protestors have already been met with police violence and say the University’s latest tactic constitutes an escalation in the midst of bargaining efforts that are, for now, ostensibly stalled.

Following last week’s look at an opening for an Unreal Engine Rendering Artist at PHNTM, we are using our Job Highlights series this week to explore an open role on Archinect Jobs for a Robotics Fabrication Lab Manager at the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT).

The position, located within NYIT’s School of Architecture and Design, will lead the daily operations of the school’s analog and digital fabrication shop at its Long Island campus. Responsibilities will include serving as the primary technician for the Robotics Lab and Advanced 3D printing Lab, administrating safety procedures, and researching and experimenting with the capabilities of traditional wood shop tools, digital tools, and other fabrication methods.

The role calls for an individual with a Bachelor’s degree in architecture or a related field, with significant experience in fabrication in an academic and/or professional setting.
