Secondary Education Institute in Palomares del Rio, Seville.

The competition offered settlement in a traditionally agricultural environment destined for the olive grove growing, surrounded with isolated housings urbanizations, an industrial estate and plots of olive grove, near Almensilla's road. The location allowed to the educational center to act as link between the consolidated urban area and the new partial residential plan of which it forms a part. The offer raises a building that works as perimetral cuirasse (eluding the acoustic and visual pollution of the industrial environment), overturned to the interior; the classrooms are formed using a modular structure in three blocks that generates a series of courts between them extending the free central space. Are projected volumes of two floors that shelter educational zones, of administration and complementary services; volumes that are crossed longitudinally by galleries opened for the great central space, which spreads towards the sports zone. Both spaces remain divided by a difference working as sports stand and facilitates the tracks’ segregation. The gymnasium’s volume completes the main face.
The Institute is designed in order that the use of its spaces could be intensified. Almost 50% of the surface is usable for the neighborhood out of the schedule and school calendar. The building disposition respects the majority of existing olive trees, moving the rest to its environment zones.
