Entry Canopy & Lobby Renovation @ the Hospital for Joint Diseases

The Hospital for Joint Diseases sought to re-imagine the main entry area and lobby of their central building, located near Gramercy Park in Manhattan. The project involved the renovation of the main lobby, admitting offices, gift shop and prayer rooom, as well as the creation of new main entry stairs and walk, overhead canopy, signage and curtain wall system. Design challenges included balancing the desires of the hospital with the larger architectural style of NYU Langone Medical Center, creating an welcoming entryway on a busy streetcorner, and handling high volumes of foot traffic into and out of the facility.
