About 

To date, my professional experience has been focused on completing training units within the Intern Development Program as I believe it provides a sound direction of study within the workplace. The highest level of professional experience I have completed has been in the area of design and construction documents, followed by construction contract administration and finally management. The majority of this experience deals with the following building types: warehouse/storage, medical offices, commercial offices in general and finally assisted living/health care. The next valuable experience deals with office administration and drawing archives. Early in my professional experience I was in charge of virtually all office administrative tasks as well as supervision and execution of archiving all project sets dating back 30 plus years. This administrative/archival experience gave me insight into how an efficient office runs and continues running smoothly, without major legal, civil or other confrontations. Compiling, printing and delivering drawing sets, all the while checking for thoroughness and completeness allowed me to learn what an acceptable drawing set looks like. In addition to these professional experiences, my most valuable experience deals with architectural visualization. As Assistant Project Manager, one of my main tasks was to model and render potential design solutions using cutting-edge software. This helped our designers in house as well as the client see what the design intention was and allowed us to quickly make aesthetic changes based on feedback and suggestions. Learning this software has proven priceless as I now have the ability to use computer visualization in order to back up my intentions with hard evidence of a likable design.

Employment 

Progressive AE, Grand Rapids, MI, US, Graduate Project Architect

I was a draftsman completing construction documents for various projects. The software I used for this was AutoCAD and Revit. In creating these documents I was exposed to code review and technical design review. I reviewed shop drawings and submittals. I worked closely with project designers to create working documents that illustrated their intent in a practical way that contractors could understand. I was also involved in schematic design for some projects, using sketchup to prepare imagery for the clients approval. This was very valuable and allowed for a more streamlined approach, eliminating the middle men between schematic design, design development and construction documents. I worked closely with architectural product manufacturers and other people in the field, building my knowledge of current construction techniques and best management practices. I worked closely with project engineers. This gave me the ability to have a more technical mindset, working through design solutions in a way that was unique but also economical and practical. I worked closely with landscape architects. This allowed me to work through projects keeping the landscape in mind and making these areas cohesive with the overall solution. As a graduate project architect at Progressive AE I gained many valuable skills that will enable me to be a better project designer in the future. Working in this large firm with all disciplines in house, gives me an advantage going into future positions.

Edited and created construction documents for warehouses, build to suits, medical clinics and assisted living facilities. Along with learning how to create CDs for the above building types I checked construction orders versus the building specifications learning each and every aspect of construction appropriate to these building types. I created prospective designs including two and three-dimensional drawings, animations and renderings. I created concepts for career centers (university), medical offices, and warehouses. To create these construction documents, animations, renderings and graphic pieces of all kinds, I used: AutoCAD, Sketch-up and 3DS MAX. I created these images for advertising, marketing and most importantly to show the client what the structure will look and feel like inside and out upon completion.

As a first year internist, I performed a variety of administrative tasks dealing with the handling and movement of construction documents throughout the office, the city and the country. I performed a complete archival process, sorting and documenting all related project files, construction documents and renderings in the office, dating back to 1970. I began space planning exercises for small medical clinics and commercial offices. Towards the end of my internship I began editing construction documents based on red lines and started training on modeling and rendering software.
