Fall 2009

Studio with Erick Carcamo

At the beginning of the semester, the studio focused on the development of establishing a connection between an under water deep-sea creature and its lighting ability.  After some studying, the assignment to create a casino Lexington, Kentucky emerged.  I developed a design based on octopus tentacles and body armor.  Individual pieces worked together to fore fill one goal, which was to provide an environment that would protect the people within.  From there, the casino developed further with the idea of a parasite, which attached to the top of the Fifth Third Building.  The skin and pieces worked together with the host (Fifth Third Building) to create cavities of spaces within the parasite (casino).
