Calcagnini Contemplative Center

Dynerman Architects - Calcagnini Contemplative Center

Part conference center, part Boy Scout camp, The Calcagnini Contemplative Center is set in the Virginia hills overlooking the Shenandoah Valley. This small campus will serve and house Georgetown University’s many retreat programs - religious and secular. The design, comprised of a dining hall, 2 community buildings with break-out rooms, 28 cabins that will house 84 people and a small chapel, is organized about two courtyards, one public the other private. While the buildings are clearly modern in their design, still, they reflect the local rural character in the massing, materials and construction.
