Derek Wendt

Minneapolis, MN, US

I received an Architecture degree from University of Detroit Mercy. I researched the phenomenology of aural architecture for postgraduate thesis. I inventively arranged an urban plan with a supporting exposition of acoustic exhibits. At the conclusion of education, I received Architecture Alumni Achievement Award (for character and integrity).

I was able to utilize new skills in Adobe, architectural rendering softwares, photography, visual communication, and graphic design. I developed to sketch innovative architectural ideas, create illustrations and graphics, and piece together models and short films. Outside of school, I taught myself to utilize HTML and CSS for website creations. These skills prompted me to start a freelance service to maintain experience and to gain proficiency in communication.

In architecture, not only I want to become an licensed architect, but also intrigued to become a consultant to better the acoustic environment to prevent the continuation of hearing loss that we are facing today.

I thrive to travel to explore the culture and design beyond the beaten path. I travel only with a suitcase, and while exploring, I only carry my phone and a journal with small maps. I am adaptable to many major cities thus relocation would not be a burden. I am an inherited Green Bay Packers fan and shareholder. I ran a marathon in 2011, a 25k race in 2012, and is considering running another marathon for a charity.
