Danielle DeVuyst is a project manager with a diverse academic and professional background in sustainable architecture and environmental engineering who adds a level of versatility and proficiency to any design team.
Her commitment to sustainable design is not only demonstrated through her credentials [BDes Arch, MArch, MSE (thesis pending), LEED, Green Assoc.], but also her comprehensive breadth of experience, working in green building, water and sanitation, urban agriculture and international development. This multidisciplinary set of skills gives Danielle the unique perspective of understanding the big picture and being able to effectively communicate between engineers, architects and consultants (in English or Spanish).
Most recently, Danielle has worked as a Water and Sanitation Engineer and Project Manager on several construction projects from conception to completion in rural Peru. During this time, she focused on project development and management, team leadership as well as written and graphic communications within the context of environmental technologies and natural processes, culminating in the design of constructed wetlands and construction of biodigestors, improved cookstoves and solar powered hydroponic systems.
Additionally, she serves as a Biodigestor Consultant for the Peace Corps and 2 year member of the Peruvian chapter of the ECPA committee as well as the designer and co-editor of ECPA's newsletter, Power to the People.
Danielle is most interested in combining design, technology and natural processes and discovering what that overlap can contribute to the built environment, whether it be rural or urban. Although she has spent much of the last decade studying abroad (in Spain, Italy and Argentina) or working abroad (in the Brazilian Amazon, India and Peru), she is looking forward to making Denver, Colorado, her home.

Mackey Mitchell Architects, St. Louis, MO, Volunteer LEED Assistant
•Assisted in the achievement of LEED pilot credit MRpc76 Material Ingredient Reporting for the Brown School of Social Work building on the Washington University in St. Louis campus.
•Reviewed and organized 144 material specs and contacted manufacturers to determine which materials apply for this credit.
U.S. Peace Corps, Otuzco, La Libertad, Peru, Water and Sanitation Engineer
PROJECT DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT
•Collaborated with rural Peruvian communities and leaders to develop and complete site-specific technical environmental interventions that include 2 biodigestors and a solar-powered hydroponic system.
•Managed these projects in their entirety from conception to completion.
•Initiated and led community meetings and educational sessions.
•Developed and implemented detailed construction budgets.
•Received and managed 100% of grant financing requested.
•Negotiated with and motivated communities to contribute 40% of project costs.
•Organized transportation of all construction materials.

•Developed large scale constructed wetlands project to treat the sewage of 250 community members.
•Applied for and received $5000 to teach Environmental Engineering to female students and complete constructed wetlands as the capstone project.
•Organized and headed 3 Peace Corps training events in Otuzco, resulting in the training of 35 Peace Corps volunteers and 32 Peruvian Counterparts, as well as the construction of 2 improved cook stoves, installation of 1 biodigestor, and disinfection of 1 water system.

WRITTEN AND GRAPHIC COMMUNICATIONS
•Wrote 4 effective grant proposals on behalf of rural Peruvian institutions, earning a total of $8,500 in external contributions and $3,726 in community contributions.
•Designed and co-edited the Peruvian chapter of ECPA's (Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas) newsletter. Authored articles pertaining to site appropriate renewable technologies.

•EPA Earth Day Exhibition
-Designed and built an interactive scale model of an existing stormwater pond to demonstrate the process of water collection and retention in relation to urban areas' impervious surfaces. Model functioned in plan and section showing natural filtration systems through water being pumped into and out of the model with a solar-powered water pump.
•AEESP 2011 Environmental Engineering Conference
-Designed and produced new brand identity for the 2011 AEESP (Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors) Conference in its entirety including design of all signage, banners, name tags, drink tickets, lanyards and every other designed product using exclusively green materials.
•Hillsborough County Public Schools' Magnet Program
-Created a large scale graphic marketing campaign for 7 middle schools in Tampa Bay Area that included banners, posters, pop-up signage and brochures for each school and its designated specialty.
Washington University in St. Louis, St. Louis, MO, US, GIS Technician Intern- Horticulture
•Conducted campus-wide tree inventory to serve maintenance management with GPS locator, ArcGIS, ArcPad and ArcCatalog software, locating, identifying and characterizing over 3,500 trees.
•Configured and maintained a comprehensive GIS horticulture database to include genus, species, caliper, condition, maintenance need and observation of each tree on campus per requirements to achieve Tree Campus USA certification.
•Geo-referenced all AutoCAD campus building floor plans onto GIS aerial, totaling over 500 geo-referenced additions as well as interior polygons for space survey analysis of area, function, ownership and cost.
•Designed ADA building maps in Adobe Illustrator for every campus building. Created GIS ADA campus maps for easy web access with adjustable layers and links to the maps of over 100 ADA accessible buildings on campus.

•Located over 3000 points of on-site underground utilities including all pipes and valves for steam, chilled water, hot water and fuel oil using the Trimble GPS locater.
•Imported collected GPS data and mapped 40 acres of campus residence utilities, generating a comprehensive map of the SOUTH40 and database for energy efficiency and cost analysis.
