About

I am a landscape designer and artist with a BA(hons) degree in Garden and Landscape Design and an MA in Art and Environment from Falmouth University in the UK.

Having worked and studied in England for six years, I have returned to the U.S. with the intention of progressing my career in landscape architecture.  I have three years of experience running my own landscape design business while also taking up freelance design work two design practices in the UK, working on domestic and foreign projects both at the residential and commercial level.  I have also taught and run the Design Communications module (including all IT requirements) for the Garden and Landscape Design higher education course at Cornwall College in England.

In 2011, I won the Royal Horticultural Society's Young Designer of the Year competition out of 300+ applicants.

As an artist, my work has focused on community art projects, being shortlisted for the Kew Gardens Edible Food and Fungi Festival 2013.  I have also been the Intern for Strategic Development with River of Flowers, a social enterprise based in London which promotes the growth of wildflowers in urban areas.

Education

University of Falmouth, Falmouth, Cornwall, UK, Masters, MA Art and Environment

The Masters in Art and Environment was a studio-based fine art degree involving independent arts practice development under a rigorous programme of student-led critiques and workshops.

The masters involved a number of independent exhibitions, and culminated in a final professional arts exhibition. University of Falmouth, Falmouth, Cornwall, UK, Bachelors, Garden Design: Arts and Environment

This BA(hons) Garden Design: Arts and Environment course involved a dedicated three-year program in garden, landscape and urban design. Taking place at an arts-specific university, the course had a clear focus on conceptual design development in a studio-based setting. However, being managed by a team of certified landscape architects and horticulturalists, the course had a strong grounding in architectural principles, detail design and construction.

During the course, students worked on a number of live projects with real clients, providing necessary real-world experience. We also had opportunities to undertake internships and/or build show gardens at some of the prestigious design shows in the UK.
