Our client in Japan wanted a Bouldering Gym that his clientele could climb onto rather than our traditional style of climbing a face to the top then dropping down onto the pads below. With this in consideration, the full 360 degrees of the structure had to be designed so to allow the climber to be able safely climb over the top, stand without obstruction, and walk off the ramping section of the wall to the far right.
Likewise, the Island Boulder was designed in efforts to provide difficult climbing on two sides with the ability to climb onto the top and descend safely off the back of the "boulder".
