Located in the new AO building, TWO ROOMS Grill | Bar was founded by ECN partners, Matthew Crabbe, Nathan Smith and Eddie Baffoe, and designed by Eight Inc. With their combined expertise in cuisine, beverage and service, the partners ensure TWO ROOMS will offer a unique and unsurpassed dining, bar and lounge experience.
TWO ROOMS occupies the 5th floor in each of the AO building towers—its two distinct spaces joined by a bridge, from which one can access the adjacent outdoor lounge, that hovers above a water basin and looks out towards Shinjuku. The buildings' overall architecture is very expressive in its design. Eight Inc. created TWO ROOMS following a simple architectural geometry that complements rather than mimics the geometry of the two towers. This spatial organization, together with a carefully selected material palette creates a continuity between reception, restaurant and bar areas.

The restaurant features an open kitchen with seats at the black granite counter, freestanding tables, a chef's dining table and window banquettes overlooking Aoyama-dori. The centerpiece of the lounge (bar area) is a symmetrically designed freestanding bar, that customers can access form all four sides with a distinguished backdrop by the custom artwork of Masashi Osawa. A communal table adjacent to the bar, a small wall banquette and freestanding tables and chairs along the window allow for a more casual lounge experience. A focal point of the bar area is the custom wine cellar that is designed to create a screen through its array of bottles concealing the private dining room behind.
The refined finishes of TWO ROOMS include dark walnut floors, black granite counters and blackened steel furniture detailing and custom light fixtures. The custom bar, communal and chef's tables, as well as the private dining room are designed using Swamp Kauri wood top surfaces, imparting a warm character to the space. Swamp Kauri wood is harvested in New Zealand from trees, that grew up to 2500 year old and were buried and preserved in underground swamps for up to 50,000 years. The bar and tables at TWO ROOMS are designed using massive slabs of this ancient wood, which were hand selected, custom shaped and finished for TWO ROOMS.
