Taming the Marketplace

Machu Pichu is located in the town of Aguas Calientes, Peru. The town is the only point of entry to the beloved tourist and World Heritage Site. The town itself is located along a river and tributary that constantly floods. The entrance to the town is a Marketplace that is highly unorganized and disorienting. The proposal is to create a new marketplace that is designed to house the primary circulation of visitors and residents while allowing for the market to exist along the edge.
