Light Span

LightSpan is an interactive lighting installation on a 200 foot pedestrian bridge in downtown Memphis Tennessee. A network of 27 sensors and RGB LED light fixtures respond to the movement of pedestrians walking down the bridge, acknowledging their progress, and changing the color of their journey. The project was designed by Electroland (Cameron McNall, Damon Seeley) and funded by the City of Memphis' Urban Art Comission.  It utilizes technologies used in the architectural and entertainment lighting industries, along with many systems only used in industrial automation.
I was involved in many aspects of the project, including designing the system architecture, selecting and researching components, to overall project management and overseeing onsite installation.

Completed in the Summer of 2010
