Tybee Island

As part of a studio dedicated to SEA LEVEL RISE much of this work regarding the impact on TYBEE ISLAND, a barrier island off of the coast of Georgia, is to lead into the completion of my thesis on how to PLAN FOR and DEVELOP GROWTH in sync with the rising ocean. My proposal involves a RETREAT FROM the MARSH as well as a RETREAT FROM the BEACH in order to PRESERVE ECOLOGICAL and ECONOMICAL ASSETS, as well as to allow a DENSIFICATION of the HIGH GROUND (the ridge). In order to mitigate the complexity of this process, SLR was MODELED on the island in 3D and 2D. This allows planners and architects to foresee coming issues and to create an adaptive plan to allow residents to continue their lives on the island.
