Okay. So the new semester has started and i am going to try and post more frequently, as i admit i have been slacking. This is semester number two for me in the 3.5 year Master's program. My course load is as follows:
-History of World Architecture II
-Structures I
-Programming
-Introductory Graduate Studio II
Our first project in Studio is an analysis of a domestic project. I have the Schröder House, by Garrit Rietveld. For being in Key Houses of the 20th Century, i am surprised with the minimal amount of documentation available on the building. I contacted some cool guy on MySpace to take a bunch of pictures for me. Europeans rule!!!
In Programming we are to contact a local non-profit agency and discuss with them current and future needs, et cetera, to begin to determine a program for a potential new structure that said agency could inhabit.
That's the news for now. They say our lives become a "design problem" from here on out. So, it's time for me to return to this design problem...cables are the bane of my existence:

Programming is being taught by a new professor, Christina Yu. She seems to be very knowledgable in addition to being quite friendly. I will keep you all posted on the class and how it develops.

I thought the taunting of the kids was rather humurous..
That's awesome!!! Now the role is completely reversed - the kids who can't afford crappy "modernist" houses get rocks chucked at them by the kids whose parents live in "modernist-revival" homes. ("What? You don't have exposed steel beams in your house??" *chuck*) ...it's sort of like junior high when kids (like me) got punched in the stomach because their family drove small Toyotas and didn't have 3 suburbans. ;)

i visited the schroeder house when i was in the netherlands a few years ago... i'll see if i can dig up my digipix and email them to you... it was pretty interesting... lots of moving parts... and i remember feeling like it was built at 3/4 scale... it was very small...
i found my CD of photos... all i have are exterior photos... which means that you aren't allowed to take pictures of the interior... anyways, i uploaded the few pictures that i had to my flickr
also, i remember hearing somewhere that rietveld was screwing ms. schroder... just a little historical note...
