Not Much to Say, So much to Do

    ichweiB Oct 10 '06 0

It has been a few weeks since I posted. Level 2 Graduate studio is continuing to work on the Montana airport project. We've gotten to the part of the process where we start investigating the building systems that will transform our ideas into built possibilities. From the beginning, I suppose I had already invisioned how structure would become just as essential to the design as the theory behind the project, but I have realized it is easy to get tangled up in theory thus neglecting the "builtness" or the project.

We got a new coffee machine in studio. I say new-new to us. It was about to the thrown out downstairs so we took it before doing so. We cleaned it, and now we can have fresh coffee anytime-waffle house style. It has a warmer on top which is nice. Now instead of going a getting coffee for our professor to ensure his sanity, we all stand in line at the same coffee pot with the same styrofoam cup, and use the same creamer. Maybe that is a practical example of Athens back in the glory days-the horizontality of its citizens.

I am headed back home this weekend for a few days. Actually, I am going to the farm with my father-in-law. We're going to rebuild a bridge that fell out which passes over a small creek. I am looking forward to it. It's kinda like a sanctuary in the midst of architecture culture. It's about an hour and a half west of Nashville close to the Tennessee River. It'll be cold compared to Houston. 50s during the day and 30s at night. We'll probably build a fire at night, talk about how much we hate religion, but are desparate for God, listen for coyotes-whatever. It's a peaceful place and beautiful as well. Hopefully, I will get some good pictures of the farm to put on here.

well, I guess I had a lot to say after all.
