Before we get to the main event of our evening, I would like to thank our sponsors Archinect and Architecture Schools around the globe for contributing to these fine series of SchoolBlogs.

Also be sure to attend New York Insitute of Technology's symposium:

Black Space : Architecture, Race and
    Cultural Identity
    6:30 Thursday, February 17, 2005
    NYIT 16 West 61st St
    11th floor NYC

The panelists consist of Micheal Henry Adams, Milton Curry, Yolanada Daniels, Mario Gooden, Roderick Knox, Victor Body Lawson, Jack Travis, Roberta Washington

As soon as my classmates and I sat down for our first communal charette I heard the bell. NYIT was become a hybrid architecture school. With the ground preemies of old school vs new school. My avant-garde year and studio is comprised of the more dare to be great architects. We challenge ourselves with spatial and theoretical complexities. Our professor holds the title for being the KING of the old school. Honestly, he is an amazing critic, one of the best in the school. The program for this semester is a typical 200' by 100' site in Manhattan that will house a dressage training facility and an ice rink.

" I believe that architecture must be recognized as a discipline and of itself with its own language and principles"

" where is the architectural solution...articulate this three-demional notion"

These statements are going to be drilled into all of our heads this semester. Have we met our match? Are the concepts which relate architecture to the U.S Constitution or about the evolution of man going to fly this semester? The architects that intrigue me today are known as "pre-Madonna's" to this king of the old school. I think this is going to be one of the more interesting semesters of my career.

A statement that my professor left us with was...in two hundred years who do you think will live on Frank Lloyd Wright or Le Corbusier. He answer was Frankie Lloyds was revolutionary compared to Corbu was just being modern.
