About

Hi, I am Bhakti Shah. I am actively seeking a full-time position in the field of Architecture/ Interior/ Landscape/ Graphic Design

I graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, IL (SIUC) with Master’s Degree in Architecture. After completing of Bachelors of Architecture from India, I came to USA with my husband and started my Master’s degree program. I had finished my course work within a year and then took a break as I was expecting a baby, After recovery, I finished my Thesis and graduated in Fall 2013. But, then I did not had work permit so could not work. But, I recently received my work permit with which I can work without any sponsorship.

The international learning exposure at SIUC and work culture in my previous firms enhanced my abilities and crossover skills.  I am seeking an opportunity to contribute as a designer, in a team environment that is challenging, innovative and which will help me further to succeed in the field of     architecture and design.

Education

Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Carbondale, IL, US, Masters, Master of Architecture

My graduate program offered me variety of courses. The Architectural Design Studio focused upon regional architecture and planning. This course also served as a foundation for the development of a design/thesis project in the graduate program. The Architectural Visualization course helped to improve my 3D rendering skills with the software such as Micro Station and 3D Max. The Architectural Environment and Systems course introduced me to the facets of site planning, building code analysis, land use and zoning analysis and helped me to improve my skills of environmental planning.

My Master's thesis project was ‘Re-inventing Traditional Housing Morphology: Integrating Traditional and Modern Approach to Craft a Three-Dimensional Urban Environment’. It focused on the study of Contemporary Vernacular Architecture and a design proposal for a sustainable Affordable Housing as a prototype for future residential developments in India.
