Residential Disaster Recovery

Hundreds of thousands of homes, buildings, and structures were damaged, destroyed, or affected by Hurricane Sandy in 2012. Many of these were 1-4 family homes located along the coastlines of the five boroughs. While most only needed repairs and renovations, many homes needed to be physically lifted above new FEMA base flood elevation determinations, and some even need to be completely reconstructed to these new standards. This work involved full property and damage assessments, working closely with a contractor and consultants to devise a detailed scope of work, and for more complex homes the creation of full construction document sets for permitting.

My role on these projects evolved from leading the assessment and scoping efforts in the field, to collaborating with the project management team to coordinate internal efforts, to working closely with the client to meet external project goals, to taking on the role of main project manager and client liaison, inclusive of tracking and invoicing.
