Gettysburg Hotel

Baskervill provided interior architecture and design for a multi-million dollar renovation to the historic Gettysburg Hotel.

Built in 1797 and owned by Gettysburg College, the goal of the renovation was to update and unify the property, creating a unique, cohesive look. The design team utilized a design style deemed "New American Traditional," which ties the property to its historic roots while projecting the boutique property into the modern market. The 119 guestrooms and all public spaces — including the lobby, meeting and banquet space, and restaurant — underwent complete renovation. Finishes are based on a neutral color palette with accents of blue and orange, and are meant to be warm, soft, and welcoming. The overall design is meant to evoke a sense of welcome and familiarity.

The public spaces offer a nod to Gettysburg College, utilizing school colors and integrating historic images of the campus. Function drove many of the architectural changes made, ensuring the space is able to support the ideal guest experience, and introduce a more open and exciting lobby space with a fireplace, communal table, televisions, and added technology that serve as both a "living room" to neighboring Lincoln Square and a gathering space for guests. The existing Tavern Bar, renamed One Lincoln, was preserved and expanded to offer a full-service restaurant with direct entrance for the public. Renovations were complete in time for celebrations surrounding the 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg and Lincoln's Gettysburg Address.
