Fruit Pavilion

The food pavilion is a way to exhibit a new and fresh idea of eating that is not present in Bradford at the moment. The pavilion is also ultimately a place for meeting and relaxing whilst viewing the surroundings. It is an escape from the hustle bustle of central Bradford. The question is: How do you capture all of these aspects in a building?

The aim of the project was to build an orchard plantation and a juicing facility where people of all backgrounds could come, pick their own fresh fruits and juice them. There would be seating for when people want to drink their juice or eat some of the fresh desserts also made using the fruits.

The design itself has two major influences; firstly, the existing police station is situated on a four by four metre grid of columns. Secondly, rectangular orchards are planted eight by eight metres apart. This gave the perfect incorporation of the existing building as well as the new orchard plantation and juice bar.
