The aim of the project is to design a small urban house in Montreal, continuing the exploration of the studio theme, with an emphasis to its relationship with material, light and the idiosyncrasy of a given place.
The program of the house was to be developed from an understanding of both general notions of a dwelling, as well as particular notions of dwelling in relationship to the poiein of the work of the occupant. The programmatic requirements of the occupant will also determine the relationship that the house creates with the surrounding neighborhood, and the urban condition at large.
The projects objectives are; an understanding of an urban site and its related concerns, the exploration of the notion of dwelling as a program study, the continued development of a tectonic understanding of making, exploration of material and the continued emphasis on making as part of the process of design as well as its communicative role in the presentation of a project.
