At this stage in my career, my primary goal is to develop my skills in design and community development and contribute to the success of a local organization/firm with similar interest. My view of design as a tool for empowerment has guided me throughout my architecture career. My capstone project at Berkeley, a report on family friendly design principles for affordable multi-family housing, will be used by the housing committee and planning commission of City of Emeryville, California. The report will give the city the tools it needs to appropriately assess projects and encourage the development quality housing.
I’ve also readily used my leadership skills as a tool for empowerment. My balance of focus and drive and ability to visualize the end in the beginning has consistently placed me in leadership positions, many focused on professional development in architecture. In these roles, I stress the value of being a team player and being confident in your role on the team. These views and experiences I feel will be valuable to a design office.
I'm also a self-proclaimed master chef. My gumbo (also called "yumbo" by my friends) is a must have!
