Formative

Formative was a project that I along with two other architecture students at USC, Ali Chen and Elaine Kwong, founded as a way to express our architectural passions and styles in the form of fashion. Fashion to us was more than just a hobby, it became a translation of our understandings of shelter, culture, and style. In our first season we began using nontraditional materials, materials that architects were familiar with such as plastics, papers, etc. Thinking of the body as a direct translation of architecture. Our designs were simple and brutal- outside of what everyday wear meant. Our second season became more subtle and elegant- integrating fabrics and manipulating them to create different geometrics for the body. We have been published and featured in the Campus Circle Magazine, Pose Magazine,  Daily Trojan, and featured with the Fashion Industry Association fashion show.
