Industrial Reuses 2012 is a call for proposal for the conversion of industrial sites nearby Bergamo.

The project purpose is the renovation of the Videoplastic industrial site now being dismissed. In order to activate the regeneration process overall it is necessary to allocate new functions in this area to prevent further land consumption. The aim is to place collective and public activities to reactivate the production process while maintaining a high proportion of  production assets in the field of plastics already existing in Videoplastic and to add new functions as research and technological development.

Hence the idea of setting up a multi-purpose complex, in which production activities, coexist with the research  and the development of new technologies and its outputs, along with exhibition, social and sporting facilities. The innovative concept is to produce plastic material not from petroleum, but from waste organic products, testing bioplastics in the building field by producing cladding panels for ventilated facades that exploit innovative nanotechnologies. The Agroplastic Center for Research and Production will act as a new virtuous symbol for the city and its surroundings.

The main concept is the global revision of the complex maintaining its unity and cohesion through the re-interpretation of the existing border as an “inhabited wall”, that thickens and becomes a building. In its new layout it distributes and manages the exhibitions features. The project development is divided into three main phases:
1. the demolition of some sheds and accessory structures
2. The recovery and restructuring of the most significant components of existing industrial buildings
3. The construction of a new perimetral and connective building.
