Community Interactions: The Prairie Grass

The Prairie Grass is a proposal for a 2 block mixed-use building containing a 1st floor shopping center and three floors of luxury apartments that is part of a # block master plan across from the United Center, home of the Bulls and Blackhawks, Malcolm X Community College's old and new buildings and Rush Hospital. This building is designed in a modern form of traditional Chicago Style buildings. The building features a tinted curtain wall system along with decorative sunshades on the west side of the building. The building includes 35,694 SF of commercial space (food, retail and leisure) and 130,000 SF of residential apartments and condominiums ranging from 1-3 bedrooms. The building includes underground parking with bike storage outside every unit. There is 23,902 SF of green roof space and 5,746 SF of rooftop patio/lounge space. The buildings are connected by a bridge over Adams St. The East side with 3,000 SF condos included in apartment automated parking and a view of the skyline.
