My name is Alana, I was named after my father.

My life aspiration is to engender interaction, collaboration, inspiration, and empowerment through each and every creative endeavor.

originally brought on to manage the material library, my role with rossetti grew from an intern to a junior then intermediate designer. projects ranged from small scale installations, to concourse and arena renovations, to multi-million dollar new build facilities

- participated & contributed to all phases of more than 20+ projects with a wide range of responsibilities
- compiled construction documents for projects of all scales locally & internationally
- worked to develop “discover” sessions for new clients, the results of which would inform conceptual designs and visualizations
- coordinated consultants and reviewed submittals and shop drawings
developed custom signage, graphics, lighting, spatial elements, millwork, and furniture
- specialization in the selection and specification of materials, fixtures, finishes and furniture
- expertise in sports, entertainment, office, high end residential, retail, hospitality, restaurant, and training facility design

freelance projects have ranged from temporary installations, to landscape design, to commercial renovation, to high-end residential renovations. the scope of my role varied based on project scale and methodology

- designer & construction administrator for a $125k renovation of a 2400 sf residence in historic building
- utilized design build methodology to renovate a 2500 sf commercial building, incorporating salvaged materials and executing a complete overhaul of business branding, marketing & merchandising
- design consultant for a 4,000 sf $100k residential renovation
- created design intent based on client vision while developing budgets, estimates, project schedules
- responsible for construction documents, finish & fixture selection, procurement, contractor and consultant coordination
- creation & fabrication of custom installations and displays

the aspirational lifestyle brand anthropologie offers a design internship for their in-store visual displays. recipients are involved in every aspect of the design process intended to embody the company’s mission of inspiring creativity

- responsible for conceptualization, fabrication, and installation
- successfully completed and installed four window displays, with the final installation winning the regional holiday competition
- creation of custom retail merchandise displays

University of Detroit Mercy, Detroit, MI, US, Research Grant Assistant

University of Detroit Mercy professor Claudia Bernasconi received a grant for research into the realm of public transportation, walkability, and the perception of public architectural spaces. Assistants were responsible for administering surveys in two separate locations.

Established a drafting service to meet the demands of a telecommunication company alongside two fellow students. The company required the documentation of all their tower sites, as well as some of the electrical and mechanical systems on the sites.

The five-year Master of Architecture degree offered by the University of Detroit Mercy "is accredited by the National Architectural Accreditation Board. With its strong focus on both the theory and practice of design, it is the recommended degree for students wishing to become practicing architects, since an accredited degree is a requirement for licensure. The School of Architecture also offers a four-year Bachelor of Science in Architecture."
