The school is designed as a continuous experience where collaborative efforts from the different educational agents (teachers, parents, society…) play an important role in the development of the school environment. We intend to create spaces, corners and details that provide as much potential as possible to encourage children’s independent activities, communication, orientation, social interaction and aesthetics.
The building has been thought from the child’s point of view bearing in mind their needs and the unlimited ways children choose to express themselves. The design will evolve and grow simultaneously as the children themselves grow, laying the foundation of every form of learning in the future.
The concept behind the classrooms is to have each class associated with a different type of animal (jellyfish, fish, crabs, whales…) and each age group to be linked to a specific category of animals (sea, reptiles, earth), and at the same time affiliated with varying colours. This classification aims to respond to the following issues:
1. The child witnesses himself grow and develop parallel to the size of animals associated with each classroom and age group: through the evolution of the animals represented at each classroom at each stage so will the children.
2. The correlation of different animals and colors to each age group and classroom will make it easier for the child to navigate and orient himself whilst moving throughout the building.
