About

Greetings!

Hi,

My name is Aditya Athreya Rao and i am from India. I am a fresh graduate from my 5 year B.Arch course from University of Mysore in Mysore,India with a 1 year experience on field.

Having interned previously in " Landscape India (M/s. Prabhakar B. Bhagwat) " as part of the curriculum and self volunteered to be part of Post- Earthquake reconstruction in Nepal i have same face value of how to deal with materials like stone, bamboo, mud mortar and concrete too.

Statement of Interest

Architecture is a sense of place we are creating in a formless space. And the design clarity is a guarantee of the quality we want to achieve in the built form.
A design process is sacrosanct to me. It represents the reasons for the projects feelings. And designs seem to be more than an image; they are made up more than a set of architectural spaces. It is to be like a movie, continual in its flow and with a set of scenes each made to give you a different sense be it mental, spiritual or physical. It is this feeling I sought after in my spaces.

There are a lot of reasons I liked this field but most importantly it was because it never felt like a subject or a theoretical science, it never actually felt like working. It actually felt like learning and an exploration into our minds. We learn everyday something new because in architecture there is so much to see, so much to feel and it leaks on to various other subjects. It is a very human science.
This science is incredibly personal for me in the sense that it keeps exploring more angles to discover a project or a site and dealing with points / cultures / people / areas not explored, not experienced in its capabilities and potential untapped.

Over the 5 years I have found a sense of passion, respect and a general interest towards ecology, creativity, our surroundings and landscapes that define a project beyond just the project itself. But it has been important for me to integrate this with architectural designs, a sense of materials, spaces and techniques of building construction. My interests lie in this field of architecture and landscape or a combination of it.
I also realize in the future it would be wise to integrate with fields beyond architecture be it Water resource specialists, Geologists, Environmental scientists so that we improve our ecologies in my home country and globally!

And to be able to learn in a diverse open environment where I can interact with various professionals and intellectuals, to widen my mind globally to more ideas is the aim.

Education

The University school of design, University of Mysore , Mysore, BArch, Bachelors of Architecture

Falling in love with architecture was easier than getting to know about the field. I didn’t know what this subject was until the first time I walked into a large warehouse in the Mysore University.
I realized that I had never known that a place or a space can create such an effect on the people inside it. This double height warehouse, an incidental roof space really, was not only my college but also my home for the next five year. There were no walls between various years of study. The opportunity to interact and learn from varied age groups, to make a family of architectural education strengthened this base.

The people I met the things I learnt and more importantly the values and passion I imbibed for this subject made me realize that it is less a subject and more a manner of creating better livable, creative spaces for the community every day! It was something which leaked into various other fields and had no limits...
