This project is based on adapting a site to changes in function.  Lakeside Sand & Gravel will need to change the program once the mining is done.  This site is the entrance, which is an area where historic mining equipment is stored and maintained.  This project proposes that the site be further developed as a museum that displays the mining equipment in a controlled environment.  The current site configuration doesn't allow all mining equipment to be sheltered from the weather.  By creating a large walk-through space it would allow the equipment to be maintained while also allowing visitors to experience the machinery first-hand.  There is also a space for outdoor exhibits.
